Day 25 - 216.7nm to Go

Hi Everyone,
Not sure which of my postings have made it to you. Seems to be delays going out.

Apologies & Congratulations to Rich and Linda....they actually came closest to our crossing the Equator. They almost aced it- great job! And Steve, you are still on the podium with second place.

We are nearing Hiva Oa, 216.7 nm where we will shout with glee...Land Ho. Because of our limited maneuverability (rudder & detached boom) their Coast Guard will assist us to the anchorage. What a relief! And, then it's off to the haulout for repairs and a donation to their economy no doubt. Bakery or laundry not sure which will be my priority.

Must get back to monitoring at the helm while Paul gets some sleep. It's a beautiful day for sailing if you had all the essentials. The water is such a deep navy. Take care. Love Leslie

  1. Besides the repairs, it looks like there's a few nice eateries in Atuona as well as a 4-star hotel (Hiva Oa Hanakee Pearl Lodge) that will certainly look forward to your 'donation' to the local economy! All points of interest called out on Google Maps -- the hotel, eateries, water holes, even the Catholic Church and Cemetery -- are Google reviewer-rated 4 stars or above (hmmmm...). You're making great time -- hopefully you'll arrive in time for breakfast or maybe early-lunch on Monday morning :-) Praying for your continued safety -- Rich Harmel and Linda Rahn
